The movie begins with Oh Dae-su, a successful businessman, being kidnapped and imprisoned in a mysterious location. He is given no explanation for his imprisonment and is only told that he will be released if he can find the man who kidnapped him within five days of his release. After 15 years of captivity, Oh Dae-su is finally released, and he sets out to find his captor and exact revenge.
